Two anglers spinning on a misty river at dawn

What is Izak?

A day with Izak.

Izak is your guide for all things fishing. To show what that means in reality, let’s follow one angler and Izak through a day. Here’s the day.

Before you hit the water.

You wake up and ask Izak where to go tomorrow, within two hours’ drive. Not a list of lakes. Two or three places it’s confident about, with the reasons: weather, water levels, recent rain, what’s been caught there lately, the time of year.

You ask what to take. It knows the rods you own, the river, what’s been working. You’re missing something. No same-day delivery, but there’s a shop ten minutes from the access point with everything in stock.

You ask it to sort the permit and find a guide within your budget. It shows you three, with what they’re good at and if they’re available. You book. Then where to park, which area to fish first, and a knot you’ve never tied, step by step.

Go fishing
Where should I go fly fishing for trout tomorrow, within 2 hours?
Three I’d back. Clear, low water and olives hatching after midday make the Itchen the best bet. Day tickets are still left on the Test, with bigger fish and fewer of them. The Meon is small, wild and quiet midweek. Want setups for any of these?
Itchen. What should I take?
Your Sage 9ft 5 weight with the Rio WF5 and a 9ft 5x leader. A size 16 olive on top, and a GMC nymph for the deeper pools. You’re down to two GMCs. A tackle shop 10 min from where you park has them.

Saved. Back to fishing.

While you’re out there.

You arrive. Everything’s handled. You meet your guide and get fishing. You catch your first fish and take a photo.

Izak does the rest. Species, size, where, the weather, the water, the fly. You add four words, “unreal spot, come back in spring”, and get back to fishing. The photo with your guide is saved for later. Nothing to type, nothing to remember.

Your spots stay yours. Private by default, shared only when you say so.

And long after you’ve packed up.

Tired, happy, and hungry. You ask where’s good nearby. Not the top-rated place on a map, the place anglers go, on your route home.

That night the day is already in your logbook. Any bait, lures or flies you’re running low on are noted. Your guide’s in your contacts. The photo’s ready to share, if you want to. And when the season closes, Izak is still there: the videos, the trip you’re planning, the knot you still can’t tie.

Izak.
Good evening, JonOne brown trout today. 3 lb on a GMC nymph, your best on the Itchen this season.
